If you've participated in one of Casapinka's mystery knit-a-longs, you know that they are not merely a knitting project--they are an experience. You can view the pattern info (but no pictures--it's a mystery KAL) here, and browse kits here. We've chosen options at a variety of price points, and included a couple of plant-based options!
As mentioned below, I improvised most of a crochet hat while hanging around at a race aid station, and I looked to Toni Lipsey for guidance on how to add ribbing to the brim of the top-down beanie. I knew she'd come through for me, as the crochet tutorials on her TL Yarn Crafts YouTube Channel are excellent, and I remembered the technique from making the French Press Cardi.
This technique (tutorial here) produces a look similar to knit ribbing, and when you go down a hook size, it also functions similarly.
Photo includes a bit of lichen picked up along the way....
While I enjoy my side hobby of providing race support to my spouse during his ultra-running adventures, I always think I am going to get much more stitching time in than I actually do, and this year's Cascade Crest 100 experience was no different. I did crochet most of a hat (improvised), but I did NOT finish the Musselburgh hat as I thought I might, and I didn't even touch the Miles Shirt Jacket. Maybe I will finish both in our 100+ degree temps this week! 😂
