…new in the shop

Linea Pura Mosaico from Lana Grossa is a cotton / linen / rayon blend in watercolor-like gradient colors. The ball band gauge is 20 stitches over 4"; I think anywhere from 20-22 would result in a good fabric, and it would work well for intentionally open gauges (mesh, etc) as well. It's a DK weight, and there are lots of options in my Summer Ravelry bundle, found here. For this yarn, I would err on the side of less detail--stockinette, ribbing, simple eyelets or mesh--the color changes are already providing a lot of interest!

…to inspire

I shared Katy Banks' Book Blanket Recipe back in February, and I thought I would give an update here.

SPOILER ALERT: not a single stitch has been worked.

HOWEVER, I am using the Pocket Palette app (iOS, there are Android equivalents) to log the color information I will need for this project--the app allows me to use a photo of the cover (generally from the publisher's site, since I am listening to audiobooks from the library) and then pull colors from those photos to represent the book. I am also able give the palettes titles, so I'm including the title and author information there, plus the date I finished the book.

The original recipe calls for mitered squares, and that might happen, but I might also make strips and join them together afterward. I don't have time to start assembling yarn from my leftover bins right now, but even this much of the project is making me happy!

I finished a pair of gift socks! Enough people commented on the pattern as I was working on them (they were my desk project for a number of months) that I made notes, and will likely write up the pattern. I used Opal 6-Ply, a sport weight sock yarn, knit on 2.5mm needles for a very dense fabric.
