Wildcat Night Out, Malabrigo Day & a Must‑Try New Yarn!
October 14, 2025
A heartfelt thank you to Marie Greene of Olive Knits for including Yarn Folk in her kick off of the spectacular Knit In One book. If you were able to join us over the weekend, you saw the samples she brought with her, and saw first-hand how wearable (and giftable!) these projects are. It's been a long time since we had such a strong collection of one-skein patterns--for a variety of yarn weights. We still have a few copies of the book left (and they are signed 💚).
This week, we're happy to participate in CWU Wildcat Night Out on Tuesday, October 14th. We'll be open late until 8 pm, and hosting a bonus social stitching from 6-8pm. Stop by during the event, stay awhile if you like, and add yourself to our email list (or confirm that you are already on it) for a chance to win one of two $20 gift cards!

Malabrigo Day
October 25th
We'll be celebrating Malabrigo's 20th anniversary with yarn tastings, door prizes, and more.
This beautiful blend of 70% Falkland, 15% Bluefaced Leicester, and 15% Bluefaced Kerry Hill wools is a collaboration between Laine magazine, Novita yarns, and West Yorkshire Spinnery. The stitch definition is gorgeous, the hand is impeccable, and the color palette is perfectly cohesive. If you love non superwash wool as much as I do, I know that about you, and you've been in the shop in the last three months--well, I've probably thrust my swatches under your nose.
I ordered extra yarn to knit Mosspath, the ideal basic V-neck cardigan. Due to buying a building and moving the shop, I did not attend this year's trade show in Chicago, but I spotted Mosspath in a friend's Instagram story, and she was kind enough to figure out what I meant when I messaged her and said, "hey, I can't stop thinking about this sweater that was in your stories the other day; do you know what it was?" We'll see more designs for these special yarns, I'm certain, but if you have a DK or fingering weight pattern in mind--whether a garment or an accessory, give these yarns a try. It's a lovely stitching experience!
…to inspire
Even if you're not in the mood for some gorgeous sock yarn, or a merino and silk blend single-ply fingering, or non superwash Merino wool dk, stop in and have a look at the Tributary Yarns trunk show. The colors are gorgeous, and worth spending a little time with just for that. Will they try to follow you home? Maybe????? 🤷🏻
We'll have more details about our October 25th Malabrigo celebration next week, but there are some opportunities to participate in Malabrigo raffles to share now!

Finished the Honeycomb Hat by Marie Greene from Knit in One, , this was in Tributary Yarns Stream Sock
Knit some more sleeve on the Lakes V-Neck in Berroco Wizard. I'm going to give Marie's preference for doing sleeves on two 24" circulars as soon as the 16" needle is too small. (Which, honestly, is about now.)
Sophie Hood in Basta is halfway there! And after the right half of the hood section is finished, we're on the downslope, decreasing until the end!
