Valentine Surprises are open for ordering!

It's time for one of our very favorite things of the year: Valentine Surprises return!

We have four different price point options--Ring Pop, Whitman's Sampler, A Dozen Roses, and Weekend Getaway. We send you a questionnaire to build out a sense of your preferences, and then we get to work planning a fiber-y surprise for you! We give you an approximate number of skeins included for each option, but that's just a baseline--we try to give you a little extra value no matter which level you choose. And in addition to your surprise project, we also include fun valentine swag.

ORDER HERE -- and don't forget to include your email so we can send your questionnaire!

Presidents' Day -- we'll be open unless the weather is really grim.

…new in the shop

We've got a squishy new extrafine superwash Merino self-striping Merino wool aran weight in the house! Echoes Aran from Gusto Wool knits up quick on a US 8-9 (5mm-5.5mm) needle, and if you're crocheting, you'll want an I or J (5.5mm-6mm) hook. This is a round yarn with fantastic stitch definition, vivid colors, and fun stripes. 1 skein for a hat or mittens, 2 for a scarf. The gauge on this would be a great match for Florence Miller's Step By Step Sweater.

…to inspire

Fiber arts are as high tech or low tech as you want them to be--from thigh spinning to digital knitting machines. The desire to step away from doomscrolling has been a common refrain I hear from people just starting out with knitting and crochet and from those reengaging with their hobbies.

This article from Greater Good Magazine, a project of Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley, does a great job of spelling out the science behind how this benefits our  mental health and general levels of satisfaction. Put down your phone, and stitch a little--it really might help.

Jaunty: Woo hoo! I'll post a finished pic when I get more Lang Infinity, which should be on its way soon!

Prospect Pullover: in Ultra Wool. I'm making steady progress on sleeve #1. This is my car and bus project.

Elf-burgh: Making the wee-est size with a ball of Edition 3. I'm on to the inner layer, so it's all decreases from here on out. This thing is unbelievably cute--you'll see next week.

Kraken Cowl: Morris is a treat to knit with, and I'm a little over halfway through the colorwork.

Ginny CardiganLanas Light held with Aerial mohair for the DK gauge, progress above. I've finished the upper back and upper right front, and I've picked up for the upper left front. The ends are annoyingly me, but I am waiting until I pick up for the sleeves to weave them in, so they can get tucked into something like a seam.

A big win was that every project on this list moved forward last week. I like the momentum!
