...new in the shop

A few new things to ogle this week:

…to inspire

The Familiar cowl was originally designed in a 100% cashmere sport weight that we aren't currently able to get. But I've been thinking about the kitty who inspired the name of the pattern (Arwen, Mr. Yarn Folk's best pal), and thinking about a great alternate yarn. Yakima would be perfect--the pattern is knit on US4 needles, the blend of yak and Merino wool is almost as soft as Arwen (never mind the cashmere) was, and the slight tonal variation won't detract from the textured interest. The pattern is free on Ravelry, and one skein of Yakima is enough to knit it.

So close! I finished the hem and sleeve ribbing of the Ingrid Slipover in Forge on Sunday, but then realized I didn't have the smaller needle size needed for the neck ribbing at home. Cue the sad trombones. I'm taking some new projects with me to Chicago, so the neckline will hold on until next weekend!
