Soundtrack Sweater KAL Kits! Yarn Folk

While I would often have the opportunity to meet with my rep, Beverly, to talk about new seasonal yarns from Berroco, these are strange times, and the new yarn samples came to me in a Priority Mail box.

While I was swatching, I was also thinking about the Soundtrack KAL…and I had an IDEA.

From there, it took some effort to assemble the materials and swatch (most of) the combinations.

This version of Soundtrack is fuzzy and distorted—a strand of a classic solid, 4 ply fingering weight yarn (Ultra Wool Fine) is combined with a mohair and silk blend, for a light, luxuriously soft, and marled main fabric. Then there are two choices for the contrasting stripes at the yoke—Tiramisu (wool/acrylic/mohair/silk) or Millefiori LIght (wool/acrylic). Both options stripe gently, so the the stripes of the pattern will change color through the yoke.

You can order yarn for your size online here (it will ship from Ellensburg), or schedule an appointment to see the options in person. (As always, drop in shoppers are welcome, but we are limiting in person customers to two at a time to facilitate physical distancing, so an appointment eliminates the possibility of a short wait.)

I hope you’ll decide to play along, and if you’re looking for a different option, Blue Sky Woolstok, HiKoo Kenzie, Neighborhood Fiber Co Studio DK, Knitted Wit Polwarth Shimmer, and Plymouth Moon Shadow all knit beautifully at the pattern gauge.

Current open hours are Monday - Friday, 7am-3:30pm, and Saturdays, 9am-1pm. In-store shopping: mask required, two customers at a time, avoid any wait by scheduling at yarnfolk.com/scheduling. And we’re always open at yarnfolk.com/shop!

If you logged onto Ravelry last week, you may have been surprised to encounter a site-wide redesign. The story of the new look is here.

Some users have reported seizures and migraines related to visual accessibility issues. While the team is working on corrections, there is an option to revert to the original look by clicking on your profile icon and choosing the “Classic Ravelry” option. If you are someone at higher risk for these reactions, you may wish to engage someone to help you make the switch, as you do need to log into the redesigned site in order to revert to the previous version.

Rift

I finished Rift on Friday, and wore it over a tunic on Saturday. The only change I made to the pattern was to single crochet around the neckline, rather than pick up, knit, and immediately bind off. Because it’s such an open fabric, it’s definitely a layering piece. The 44” size used only 166g (about 1 2/3 skeins of Knit One Crochet Too Daisy, and the hemp/linen/silk blend is drapey and comfortable to wear!

Breathe & Hope

While many have already finished Casapinka’s Breathe & Hope shawl, I continue to creep toward the bind off. (If not for all the fun swatching, I might be finished, as I have only five more rows plus the knot stitch bind off to complete!) My combination was Candy Skein Luscious Fingering, and Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stealer.
