We also did a big restock of Plymouth Encore, Encore Colorspun, Mega, and Mega Colorspun!
I do love blocking, and finishing the stocking (below) meant I could fill up a basin, and set a stranded knitting project to soak--possibly the most satisfying blocking of all!
Because this two-color design involved high contrast colors, and especially because reds sometimes bleed, I was careful to use some dye magnet sheets, and I wanted to make sure you knew about them here. They are great for anytime a project with multiple colors is being washed (especially for the first time), or if you are laundering several pieces together. The dye magnet sheets are made of a non-woven material, and it collects excess dyes dispersed in the water to prevent the pigment from landing on other colors.
This time, the yarn I used was super stable, and there was NO color transfer--the soaking water was completely clear. Having a solution if there is dye transfer is great; not needing it is even better!
Shout Color Catchers are the brand I've seen in grocery stores, and I have used them successfully, but I have also used "off-brand" sheets. You'll see them called dye magnet sheets, color catchers, or color grabbers. The terms are generally interchangeable.
The Squirrel from Woodland Stockings is 99% done! All that is left is knitting the i-cord hanging loop. The yarn is Lore, in a traditional crimson (Sensitive) and Ivory (Logical) combination. I wish I had time to make the bunny, bird, and deer, too! (I think the bunny would be extra cute in blue (Devoted)!)
