(I failed to fully escape the snow.)
After last week's planning retreat, I am back in the shop with ideas, plans, and to-do lists to create a memorable (in a good way!!!) 2026.
Top of mind is our mission to care for our community in the coming year. We'll be consistently coming up with ways to come together for inspiration and fun.
As you can see on the graphic below, we've got several opportunities coming up soon! Our second Can't Died in a Cornfield Zoom will be Tuesday, January 27th at 7pm. You can still sign up, and you are welcome to join us, whether you attended the first Zoom or not. Keep reading for a taste of the projects people are working on!
Then on Sunday, February 8th, Mr. Yarn Folk and I will be hosting a Superb Owl Party upstairs, with kickoff at 3:30. We hope there will be Seahawks involved, but there will definitely be snacks and plenty of stitching. Whether you are in it for the sports, the commercials, the snacks, or just the crafting, we'd love to have you join us!
And on Sunday, February 15th, you are invited to join us for a Rodeo City Roller Derby bout. This is the only Sunday home game this season (the remaining home matches are on Saturdays), so we're grabbing the chance to claim a section in the stands for yarn enthusiasts. Time and ticket information coming soon, but add this to your calendar!

Every Saturday, 2-4p
Every Tuesday, 10a-12p
January 2026
Choose your own challenge for this January stitchalong. Inspired by a colloquialism that was a pillar of my childhood in Nebraska. Our next Zoom is January 27 at 7pm. More info here, and the sign up form is here--it's not too late to join in! PS, there's no set finish date for this challenge!
Orders open January 20th--make sure to open next week's email!
Our annual chance to "treat yo'self" to a custom yarn surprise selected just for you!
February 8
We hope the Seahawks will be playing in it, but Mr. Yarn Folk and I decided we will be hositing a watch party upstairs at Yarn Folk. Kickoff is at 3:30pm. Snacks and sodas provided, and of course, this is a craft friendly event!
February 15, time and ticket info forthcoming
Yarn Folk is a proud sponsor of Rodeo City Derby, and we're inviting you to join us at this home bout at Ellensburg High School. Details forthcoming!
MLK & Presidents' Day -- we'll be open unless the weather is really grim.

I wasn't working on it during the Zoom, but my own project is the Ginny Cardigan, pictured above.

Jaunty: still almost done, but the great news is that there is more Lang Infinity in stock, so this will be a store sample after all!
Prospect Pullover: (above) front and back joined, sleeve #1 started in Ultra Wool. I'm using a Twice Sheared Sheep Snag-Free Row Counter to keep track of my sleeve decreases, since the rate of decrease doesn't land at the same place in the textured pattern every time.
Elf-burgh: Making the wee-est size with a ball of Edition 3. Still on DPNs, will switch to a 12" circular when I have enough stitches.
Kraken Cowl: Morris has perfect colors for a Seattle Kraken version, so I'm doing that. I too this with me on my retreat, but since I ended up driving instead of taking the bus, I didn't have as much stitching time as I'd planned!
Ginny Cardigan: Lanas Light held with Aerial mohair for the DK gauge.
