New kits available!

That's the "before" of Yarn Folk's Have a Ball Fall Crawl presentation! I should have taken an "after" 🤦🏼 We had a nice time, hello to our new email subscribers, and a big thanks to Beverly for her remote help during the Zoom!

Today, we're going to share some of the kits we put together for the crawl. We're excited for you see some of these new samples, and if you'd like to get access to the replays, next week's live presentations, and the extra crawl offers, you can still register here!

…new in the shop

One of the kits we created for the Have a Ball Fall Crawl was the A Little Bit Alexis Cowl. This design comes to us from Romi Hill, and her thoughtful pattern writing and creative details make it a delight to knit. It was inspired by Alexis Rose from Schitt's Creek, a character who is "simple on top, and complicated underneath." We put together eight colorways, named with "Alexis-isms" using Madelinetosh Tosh DK--see the kit combinations here.

We also have a new crocheted beanie sample, designed by our friend Jeananne Atthowe of Cerulean Orchid. The Forest Nymph Beanie kits include the pattern, a skein of Kim Dyes Yarn Brioche DK, and a coordinating snap on pom. It's a great chance to practice front and back post double crochet.

And before we talk a little about Melanie Berg, we have a new option for keeping track of your rows when knitting or crocheting--introducting the Pop-It Counters! These are a little like "reusable" bubble wrap, and you depress ("pop") a bubble each time you finish a row or round. If your issue is forgetting to use your row counter, this is a great option, as you'll be looking forward to "popping" your next bubble. You can use them a number of ways--you can add numbering with a Sharpie if you like, add a removable sticker to the bubble representing the last row or round, or you can just count the number of bubbles that have been depressed. (Easier than counting the rows they represent!) We have five designs here; add a little fun to your stitching!

…to inspire

Melanie Berg was the featured designer for this year's Have a Ball Fall Crawl, and we were glad for the opportunity to  kit up a new sample, as well as an existing one!

Melanie's chat with the team organizing the crawl was joy to watch--she is a kind spirit, and approaches her design work with such care. She learned to knit as a small child, and especially loves working with animal fibers. She lives in Bonn, Germany, and her sense of place is an integral part of her work.

We chose to make the One More Stripe shawl to celebrate her participation in the crawl, and it was perfect for Amble, a new yarn you've liked a lot! The pattern calls for two skeins of a main color, and six contrasting skeins from the Amble Minis. We have four color options; find the kits here.

We also made up kits for Neverwhere, another one of Melanie's patterns, in our shop colorway (Charlotte) from Madelinetosh in Tosh Merino Light, with a Unicorn Tail mini skein for the accent garter ridge shown in our sample.

The Elmer Sweater in Tillie is close to being done. Sleeve Island is more like a Sleeve Sandbar when you're making a 6 month size baby sweater! It's a really cute pattern, and gives a great idea of just how soft this cotton and cupro blend. (Cupro is a byproduct from the production of cottonseed oil, and is billed as a vegan alternative to silk.)
