Malabrigo Day is THIS SATURDAY!

This Saturday, OCTOBER 24th, is the second annual Malabrigo Day celebration at Yarn Folk and participating yarn shops around the world.

Why are we celebrating?

  • Malabrigo yarns are enduring customer favorites!
  • The colors are rich and vivid, and the development team is always adding to the palette.
  • They represent a terrific value for high quality natural fibers (especially those Merino wool bases we know and love).
  • NEW YARNS -- Saturday, we'll meet the second new yarn base to be introduced this year, and recent years have brought us Seis Cabos, Vientos, Ultimate Sock, and more.

In addition to bringing you a brand new yarn base, we will have a special selection of skeins at a "try-it" price (first come, first served, and one per person), opportunities to win an in-store door prize, yarn tasting, loads of free patterns, and glazed apple cider donut cake from 509 Bakehouse during Social Stitching!

Additionally, don't forget that if you take pictures during the event, you can enter the Malabrigo-sponsored raffles:

📸 #MalabrigoDay: share a photo of your store’s celebration
🧶 #MalabrigoFit: wear or bring your Malabrigo project

See you Saturday! We can't wait.

…new in the shop

Twister is another of the new bulky yarns gracing our shelves. To be perfectly honest, I ordered it without a real solid plan. I mean, look at it:

Doesn't that just make you happy? Even if we do nothing but make beanies and mittens with it, I think the joy-factor is off the charts.

…to inspire

Speaking of hats, it's that time of year, and it's a great time to revisit a wonderful cache of free hat patterns.

It all started with Kelbourne Woolens' Year of Hats, a pattern for each month in worsted weight yarn, like:

Which was followed up by the Year of Bulky Hats:

And now we are in the Year of DK Hats (so this collection is not quite complete):

All three of these collections work with a range of yarns within the general weight category. You can view yarns in each category here:

Hey Halo in Gepard Woolia and Kid Seta is done! It's so cozy, and I love the color.
