If you remember the FIRST Malabrigo Day (or heck, if you weren't able to make it), be sure to pencil OCTOBER 24th into your calendar! Here's some of what is in store to celebrate some of our most popular yarns:
We'll be giving out a few awards to our Spinzilla team during Social Stitching, and there will be twisty snacks for all!
We're seeing an influx of new bulky and super bulky yarns into the shop:
Merino 401 Chunky has incredible stitch definition--it's a big, bouncy, ROUND yarn, and it pops cables and texture patterns like nobody's business. The huge 150g balls contain 156 yards of 100% extrafine Merino wool. Our shop sample, Cathryn Johnson's
Twist of Fate Beanie, was knit in a day (May 26th, to be precise), and it only required 61.5 grams of yarn--meaning that one ball would make TWO beanies. Eyecatching, warm, and super soft--we think this is such a great choice for winter accessories.
You might remember that Xandy Peters was this year's featured designer for the Have a Ball Fall Crawl. One of the kits we ran out of time to talk about was for the
Stacktangle Scarf. You may know Xandy as the creator of the
Fox Paws pattern, which features "stacked stitches." The
Stacktangle Scarf takes the concept of stacked increases and decreases and applies it the crochet granny stitch. We put together kits in soft and easy-care Berroco Vintage, and you can find our color combinations
here.

…to inspire

My stitching queue is a bit of a mess right now, but the Nelli Scarf is practically begging to be a shop sample! Feel free to beat me to it--it calls for two balls of Cashmere Kumula, which knits like a dream. Find it here.

Hey Halo in Gepard
Woolia and
Kid Seta: I knit a few extra rounds of hem ribbing, but those are complete and I finished the tubular bind off on the bus! I am also properly chastened by my refusal to take the time to transfer the sweater to Stitch Saver Cords to check the sleeve length
before working the cuffs, and they are too short, so I am picking out the bind off, and tearing back to add length. It won't take long, but I could have saved myself the hassle..
Meanwhile, there was this:
A good chunk of my Spinzilla spinning--676 yards of a Targhee/Cormo blend from Palouse Yarn. There's also a 4 oz bobbin of singles that haven't been plied yet. This fiber was an absolute dream to spin--I hope to get some for the shop very soon!
