Issue 13 of Making will be released on April 22nd, and you can preorder your copy in advance here. If my count is correct, there are eleven knit/crochet projects, and nine additional craft projects. Inspiring photography, excellent instructions, and outstanding design--add this issue to your collection today, and we'll have it for you on release day!
While we have carried Highlighter Tape for marking your place in patterns for years, lately we've been enjoying using washi tape for bit of extra whimsy. We just received some sweet choices from our friend Henry of Robot Dance Battle, along with a few Yarn Ball Kitty enamel pins.yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

Since I'm in the midst of a top down sweater project,I thought I'd include a couple of tips for transferring to a longer needle when your stitches start to get too crowded, especially when using interchangeable needles.

1) If you have an extra set of tips to attach to the longer cord (or are transferring to a same size fixed circular), just start knitting with the new needle at any point in the round, and continue until all stitches have been transferred.

2) Purl Strings to the rescue! Transfer all stitches to the longest Purl String in the set, transfer the tips to the longer cord, then transfer them back! (Purl String demo here.)

3) If you have a smaller size interchangeable tip available, remove the left hand needle tip from the cord in use, and replace it with the smaller size tip. Attach the larger (project size) tip to the longer cord and begin knitting with it, as with option 1. Attach a stopper to the other end of the cord, or just be careful until you have enough stitches transferred to safely remove the other project sized tip and attach it to the end of the new, longer cord. yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

I made good progress on the beginning of the Stripes of Joy Sweater--I just finished the increase round in contrast stripe #4, and the separation for sleeves is the very next step. I'm using five colors of Berroco Lanas--Steel Cut Oats 95102, Leaf 95127, Teal 95121, Limelight 95115, and Sorrel 95143. Other color combos that audtioned for the role are in this Instagram post.

Spent some time adding rows to the Photography Shawl, as well. I can't get over how sculptural this stitch pattern is--the landscapes some knits and purls can create are really remarkable, aren't they?
