Is Autumn whispering to you, too? Yarn Folk

This is that time when, every year, Autumn starts dropping hints--the light comes a little later, and dark a little sooner, and the nights are (mostly) cool and refreshing. And then there are all these yarn orders--some here and already on the shelves, some in delivery trucks, and some about to be boxed up in a warehouse. Unfinished projects from the summer are really starting to wonder about my commitment, and new projects for fall are gettin' real flirty 😂 Hold on tight--we're going to have some fun!

Current open hours are Monday - Thursday, 7am-3:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 5pm and Saturdays, 9am-4pm.

In-store shopping: masks are optional (but welcome and appreciated).

Love it when Knitted Wit dreams up a new seasonal palette--I love what we have going on for fall here. Knitted Wit Worsted is a squishy superwash Merino, and the collection is a vibrant mix of tonals with coordinating variegated tones. I worked up Shannon Squire's Fremont Cowl (see below) in Dirty Bird and Rocky Mountain National Park, and put together other fun pairings here. And there are more pattern suggestions on the product page for the yarn!

52 Weeks of Scarves is the softcover edition of 52 Weeks of Shawls, from Laine Magazine. These are such pretty designs, and include not just scarves, not just shawls, but also a few cowls. As with any of our books, orders that contain only books are eligible for Media Mail rates. You can also choose local pick up at check out, and I'll hold a copy here for you. Like 52 Weeks of Socks, it's $19.99, which is a heck of a deal for this many great patterns!yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

…to inspire

TikTok user GBMotherHen has been documenting the process of knitting the 341,205 stitch Filmy Fern shawl. For a look at what this epic project looked like blocked on a custom-built octagon shaped frame, take a look at this video, and for the prettiest FO photoshoot you ever saw, go here.

I really wanted a shop sample pattern that showed off the potential pairings of Knitted Wit Worsted, and the Fremont Cowl delivers that, plus the choice of two lengths. Or forego the kitchener stitch join and work it up as a scarf. Another nice bonus is that the integrated two-stitch i-cord provides a nice hidden tunnel to carry up the color not in use. It's a 28 row pattern repeat, but after a few repeats, it's logical enough to memorize. Kits here.
