Kitties Are Cute Cowl Kits! Yarn Folk

Sharing a brief update on classes and other events:

  • I'm still working out details, so this is placeholder information.
  • In-person instruction will initially be offered one-on-one, and I'm looking for a scheduling tool that has an option for booking and paying for time online.
  • We have a couple of upcoming events--Girls Night Out and LYS Day are both in the last week of April.
  • In person social times will most likely resume in May, at some time within the current store schedule.
  • Things may look a bit different than they did in the past, but using our shared enthusiasm for the fiber arts to build community is one of Yarn Folk's core values. I'm just fine-tuning the details for making that happen in a sustainable way!

Current open hours are Monday - Thursday, 7am-3:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 5pm and Saturdays, 9am-4pm.

In-store shopping: masks are optional (but welcome and appreciated). Thanks for your help in keeping my business open to the public!

...to anticipate

I've put together some kits for the Kitties Are Cute Cowl and Hat -- after some intense calculation of stitch counts for the various size options, I've determined that you should be able to make both the cowl and hat in any of the sizes offered--child or adult cowl, and toddler through adult large for the hat. For this kit, I've listed the patterns separately. If you are interested in purchasing both, the designer does offer an automatic discount to you, but for technical reasons, you need to purchase them directly from her. (Details on the kit page.) This is a delightful project, and I'll be making the matching hat when I have a spare second!
We also replenished a few colors of Hudson + West Forge last week, and restocked several of our Plymouth Yarn basics--Encore, Encore Colorspun, Encore Mega, Encore Mega Colorspun. We also added a couple of new colors of Galway Sport and Homestead.  We're about halfway through our project of adding pattern suggestions to our yarn listings, so all have linked ideas for your consideration!

…to inspire

If you'd like to join me in knitting Kristina Vilimaite's Photography Shawl (progress pictured above in Loch Lomond) you may be interested to know that the designer is currently hosting a knitalong in her Ravelry group, for anyone interested in knitting it OR her Circles of Light pattern. The two patterns are quite different--the Photography Shawl is a DK weight shawl, and wants a yarn with some body to show off its dimensionality. Circles of Light, on the other hand, is a lace weight shawl, with pretty bird's eye lace and a very wearable crescent shape. (I think it would be really lovely in Malabrigo Silkpaca....)yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

In addition to finishing the Kitties Are Cute Cowl, I also made progress on my Mondim Socks from Andrea Mowry. I have a daily agenda item to complete four rounds on the sock, and I like to check off completed tasks! (Socks are pictured on the Wood Sock Blockers in size Medium.)
