Hoodie Preorders Continue Through TOMORROW, April 16th!

My deepest thanks and appreciation to all Yarn Folk's customers and friends! We had a great day celebrating the shop's 12th anniversary on Saturday, and we'll share some of the special things we brought in for the day below.

However, one thing is TIME SENSITIVE, and that is pre-orders for our Yarn Folk hoodies. I will be sending the order to Patti at First Impressions first thing on Thursday. We have six colors available, and you can see them, plus the finished measurements for sizes XS - 4XL on the product page here. If you are local, you can see sizes M - XL in person at the shop.

…new in the shop

If you visited our 12th Anniversary page early in the day on Saturday, you likely encountered some broken links. I still don't know why, as I specifically came in early to verify them on Saturday morning. Aggravating, but you can't wade in the same river twice, so I'll just share the correct links with you now!

Customer Judy was here in February, and told me she wished that the custom color Kim Dyes Yarn did for last year's anniversary was available in a fingering weight. While I can't manifest everything, her comment was well-timed, and Kim dyed up two batches of the color, one on single ply Flan, and one on plied Napoleon Sock. Both of these bases have silk in them, so they have a similar luminescence to the Stroopwafel DK. We still have skeins available here.

I also have a new hat design, Old Heat, which translates the brickwork from the smokestack on University Way into a knit design. We worked with Polka Dot Sheep to make up kits in the colorway shown above, and the pattern has four size options. The kits are here.

And then we asked Molly from Five to Six Organized Knits to do a special drop of project bags and needle & hook organizers for us, in a selection of fabrics we chose. Find the project bags here, and the organizers here

…to inspire

Well, not so much to inspire, but to explain a little. In case you missed it in last week's supplemental Friday email, we decided to add ChiaoGoo Red Lace tips and cords (plus adapters, connectors, and end stoppers) to our selection of needles, and we also bolstered our inventory of ChiaoGoo interchangeable kits a bit. At the present time, we haven't seen increases in ChiaoGoo pricing, but it is a more vulnerable line, as they are designed in the US, but the manufacturing facility is in China. (Of our other brands, KnitPro / Knitter's Pride and Lantern Moon are made in India, and Addi and Prym are both made in Germany.)

My goal is to deal with any pricing changes as mindfully as possible, but since the tariffs on Chinese goods seem to be stickier, I decided to go ahead with the buy-in now, in hopes of staving off increases a little longer than I would be able to otherwise. It doesn't make sense for me to stock super deep, but this will help, even if it's just for the short term.

In the course of doing this, we also rearranged the spinning displays a little, so if things are right where you are expecting them, don't be alarmed!

I finished the Mira tee in Wool Addicts (not wool) Artsy. Toward the end, I really had to "trust the process"--this is a very oversized fit, and because the stitch pattern is a garter stitch based eyelet, the body length seems very short immediately upon finishing. But it blocks out, and part of the issue is that it just looks short compared to the width. When it is worn, it's very flow-y, and while it is oversized, it doesn't look bulky. I wore it over a thin long-sleeved tee, and it was a nice spring layer. It could easily move into the summer rotation over a tank or camisole.
