Holiday / New Year Cast Ons: Do You? Yarn Folk

Do you treat yourself to a new project to mark the return of light at the winter solstice, or to reset once the holiday hullabaloo subsides, or to celebrate the new year? I tend toward the New Year's Day cast on, as I'm often trying to nudge projects toward completion at the end of the year. This year, I'd really like to have most of the knitting on the body done for Pressed Flowers (this is an ambitious goal), and finish the heel of Vesper Sock stripey sock #2. As for what I might cast on New Year's Day, perhaps I'll start the store sample of the Gartergan? (Even though I'm mainly planning to knitalong with whomever might enjoy joining in.)

Current open hours are Monday - Thursday, 7am-3:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 5pm and Saturdays, 9am-4pm.
In-store shopping: masks are optional (but welcome and appreciated).

Last week was busy, but not so much with receiving new inventory. We did get some new colors of Malabrigo Mohair, and received some very long-awaited backorders of a few colors of Plymouth Select DK Merino Superwashyarnfolk dividing line (2).png

If you are a fan of Frog & Toad, or Claire Garland's knitting patterns for small softies inspired by The Wind & the Willows*, or adorable knitting animations generally , do yourself a kindness and check out India Rose Crawford's entirely wonderful Instagram feed. And if your email client has stripped the embed code above, specifically enjoy this short of Frog & Toad decorating their Christmas tree! (*Claire's pattern for Mr. Toad is adaptable to the Frog & Toad characters, and she has a separate pattern for a frog--lots of cross pollination happening here!)  yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

Pressed Flowers Cardigan: 1.5 Christmas Day football games = most of the upper back! Yay, sports!
And while I didn't cast on on Christmas Day, I might have cast on something new a day or two before that.... Coming right up, a Sophie Scarf in Dream in Color Lamb & Goat stranded with Dream in Color Billy Kid Silk. Something soft to wrap around the neck is one of my number one strategies for staying warm! One skein of each should do the trick.
