Hive & Holler back in stock plus a great book order!
You might know that I occasionally commute between upper county and Ellensburg via the Kittitas County Connector bus. What you most likely don't know is that I'm a public transit enthusiast, and have used it as my primary transportation in Lansing, MI, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area. I even did ridership counts for a couple of different systems as a temp gig when I was younger.
How does this relate to Yarn Folk? In January, I was confirmed by the Ellensburg City Council as the newest member of the Public Transit Advisory Committee, so on the third Tuesday of every month (and occasionally for special meetings), I will need to close ten minutes early in order to get to City Hall for the 3:30 meetings. (In March, it will be the 4th & the 18th)

After a spell of cold, dry weather, my hands are rough and cracked. This project from Carolyn Bloom of Bloom Handmade sent me down a rabbit hole looking for projects that combine knitting and crochet. Ravelry's database sorts patterns primarily by craft type, so it takes a little creativity to find the patterns that incorporate both. I had the best luck filtering for knit patterns, but then selecting various "crochet techniques" in the Attributes section.
I especially loved Heid Pettersen's Evina Cardigan, pictured above, which lets the granny squares be the stars of the show, while deploying simple stockinette stitch for the portions of the design that needed more shaping. In addition to the adult cardigan, there is a baby sweater that buttons to the side, a matching bonnet, and a crew neck kids' cardi.
