As we were last year, Yarn Folk is a sponsor of the Kittitas County Pride Parade, and we enthusiastically share Kittitas County Pride's goal of "Unity in Community"!
This year's Pride Parade is on Saturday, June 1st, 11a - 1:30p, and the parade route travels south on Pearl, past Yarn Folk, before turning east onto Third. We're open our regular Saturday hours, 9a - 4p, and we'd love to see you! Full route map is here.
Bring your current project, and spend some time with others who really vibe on yarn!
We're in the home stretch. All finishers get a coupon for a purchase in June or July, and will be entered in a end-of-challenge prize drawing. Last chance to submit your completed tracker is 11:59p on June 5th--in person or by emailing ann@yarnfolk.com.
Join Cerulean Orchid, Yarn Folk, and other participating shops for a round of WIP Bingo! Low stakes, lots of prizes, and a little extra oomph to finish some projects! We have BINGO sheets here at Yarn Folk, or you can download one here.
Nancy from Knitapestry in New Jersey, Lucinda from Mont Tricot in Québec, Lisa from One City Market in Missouri, and I are hosting a free Zoom to talk about the Olive Knits 4 Day KAL and our yarn choices. Join us on June 4th, 5p PDT at this Zoom link.
June 15
Book signing and brioche class with Anita Osterhaug, author of Nordic Hands, and editor emerita of Handwoven magazine. Class is full; please email if you would like to be added to the waitlist.
July 3 - 31
Choose your own level of challenge--knit it in four days, or at a pace that works with YOUR July. Either way, join us for the fun!
Oh look! It's the knitting marmot, back after awhile as a sticker AND as a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle!
So about the Olive Knits 4 Day Knitalong: meet Spill the Tea! The pattern is available for pre-order at Ravelry and at Olive Knits. We are able to sell you the pattern pre-order in-store, and you'll get the full pattern as an update on release day, July 3rd.
At our June 4th Zoom (5pm PDT, save the date!), Nancy, Lucinda, Lisa, & I will give you a peek at our store samples and some of what we have planned for the KAL.
I'm behind my friends when it comes to making the KAL sample, but I promise it's for a good reason! I swatched for this project with one of the yarns I was introduced to in Chicago. It took a minute to get it ordered, and I'm expecting to receive it from Germany this Thursday. Cross your fingers re: timely arrival for me--I have some catching up to do!
As is the case 100% of the time, any trip, no matter the length or distance from home, will lead me to WILDLY overestimate the amount of time I will spend working on projects. Over the first part of Memorial Day weekend, my family and I traveled to Renton to support my spouse, who was running a 200 mile ultra marathon. I packed:
What did I actually work on? Um, about half of the brim ribbing for the Traveler Hat. In my defense, I think I cast on three times, and my plan to work on it while walking with the runner* on the trail at the end of each loop kept getting foiled by my miscalculations of when he was due at the aid station. Still, I think this is going to be a fabulously light, yet cozy hat!
*It's a big challenge by any measure, but most people don't run a race that long the entire time. There is also walking (and at least a little sleeping).
