…new in the shop

Malabrigo's color collection for Rios this year is Amigas de Rosalinda. Rosalinda was introduced last year on a couple of yarn bases, but this year the color is the inspiration for an entire new palette in Rios. Because the number of colorways available in Rios is so large (105; we usually have 60-75 in stock), we had to make a separate product page for Rosalinda's Friends, as Shopify has a 100 variant limit!

Find them here. They are so pretty--which is your favorite?

PS--Are you thinking of joining Malabrigo's Barnstable KAL? It begins September 1, and is a great opportunity to try out Seis Cabos, if you haven't done so already! You'll need two skeins for the main color, and one for the contrast color.

…to inspire

The entry period for the Kittitas County Fair ended yesterday, and if you are a county resident, I hope you registered some of your fiber work! Drop off for Open Needlework (which includes knit and crochet items) and Fiber Arts (handspun yarn and projects made from it) is THIS FRIDAY, from 10a - 7p in the Home Arts Building at the Fairgrounds. (If you turn east onto 7th Ave from Chestnut St, you are able to drive into the Fairgrounds and park by Home Arts for drop off.)

I almost forgot! Thea Colman's new pattern, Sfumato calls for Julie Asselin's Leizu Fingering, a gorgeous wool/silk blend. Two to three skeins for the main color, and one for the contrasting stripes and colorwork. It's a terrific layering piece!

I finally got to start something new!! (Last week's Bear Ears Beanie Hat notwithstanding.)  I swatched Berroco Wizard prior to selecting a project, and Ozetta's Lakes V-Neck Pullover matched the gauge I prefered. The knitting starts with saddle shoulders, and then the fronts and backs are picked up and knit down from there before you join in the round to complete the body. I love using self-striping yarn for patterns that are knit in multiple directions, and stockinette stitch on US 10 needles is flying after the many, many cables of Oban!

Knitting with chainette yarns is a little different from working with conventionally plied yarns, and I posted a short video with some helpful tips over on Yarn Folk's YouTube channel last week. Check it out if you think it might be useful! (Much of the info also crosses over to crochet projects.)
