You may have heard that both Churchmouse Yarns & Teas on Bainbridge Island, and Serial Knitters in Kirkland are closing their brick and mortar shops. Both shops cited the effects of operating in the COVID-19 economy, and will continue operations online.
My own experiences with Churchmouse span more than a decade—favorite day trips often involved a ferry boat ride, a treat at Blackbird Bakery, and leisurely poking through the yarns at Churchmouse. I’m really sad to see them go.
We’re going to be living in a changed world for some time—let’s all continue to be kind to one another, and be thoughtful about the ways we can offer support.

As promised! New Vesper Sock Yarn—it’s in the shop, and also listed online at yarnfolk.com/shop. (I also added some new kits!)
Screenshot of advanced search options available for Ravelry’s pattern database
Are you missing travel? Did you know that you can search Ravelry patterns by “Designer Country”? From the home page, choose the “Patterns” tab, then click on “Advanced Search.” The sidebar on the left has a “Jump to a Filter” option, and if you scroll down far enough, you’ll find “Designer Country.” Given that most of us aren’t traveling too far from home these days, this can be a fun way to explore the creativity of people around the world!
(You can also do an advanced search of “People”—i.e. regular Ravelry users—by country.)
Soundtrack
This week, it’s been all Soundtrack, all the time. I won’t finish as quickly as in past years, but I’ve decided I am entirely at peace with taking advantage of the added KAL time this year! You all know I am #teamsleevesfirst; as of Monday morning, I have all the decreases complete for the first sleeve, and have 1” of stockinette + 2” of ribbing to complete.
The yarn is Ultra Wool Fine in Granite, stranded with Aerial in Silver for the main color, combined with Tiramisu in Gelato for the contrast stripes—all from Berroco. I’m not certain this will be the only Soundtrack I make, because I really love some of the other combinations I swatched, too! (You can see them here.)
