Air Conditioning Defense League Yarn Folk

Knitters and crocheters assemble: warmer weather is on the horizon, and while you've got time to whip out a quick summer tee or tank, don't forget to pull out your shawls and wraps--sometimes summer is the very best time to have them at the ready.

Also--the warmth and breezes of summer can make for perfect conditions to wash your woolies. Above is my freshly washed Bradford Road. I used Malabrigo Lace held double; Silkpaca would work held double as well, or combine five different fingering weight colors (held single). Ooh, how about Woolstok Light?

Please remember temporary hours this week--opening at 9 W-F, closing hours are as normal.

Current open hours are Monday - Thursday, 7am-3:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 5pm and Saturdays, 9am-4pm.

In-store shopping: masks are optional (but welcome and appreciated). Thanks for your help in keeping my business open to the public!

...to anticipate

I stitched up a few new bags this week, including several in a new tall size. At ~10"w x 16"h, they hold *almost* as much as the sweater size. You can find all sizes and fabric options here. (Not all are pictured.)

…to inspire

I love process and manufacturing videos, and this one on Leavers Lace is a peek into how a specialized fabric with a shrinking market presence is made. One of the things I noted was how much hands-on attention it receives, even though it is machine made!yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

I made a fair bit of progress on the Miles Shirt Jacket in Manchelopis, and I love how this pattern flows from one section to the next. The upper back is constructed first, then the left and right fronts are picked up and knit down to the point where all panels are joined, and knit as one for the lower body. Because this design features shirttail hems. there is a point where the fronts and back will be divided again to execute the shaping with short rows. It makes for a nice combination of knitting that requires a bit of focus, and stretches where a knitter can relax into the meditative experience of knitting with Manchelopis!
