Friday’s extension of Washington’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order included a provision that would allow ten counties, including Kittitas County, to request a variance and move forward in the stages of reopening. The county commissioners have applied for variance, and many expect it will be approved this week.
I am developing the required safety plan for reopening. Yarn Folk will not be open to the public this week, even if that is technically possible. Additionally, I will be operating with reduced in-store hours initially. I’m fortunate to have a group of yarn shop owners navigating these waters with me, and we’ve been brainstorming together on ways to re-engage with our customers, while prioritizing the safety of our communities. We want to be back—but we want to be smart and respectful about it.
Thank you for your continued support!

I’ve had the components for awhile, but I’ve finally assembled some kits for Laura Nelkin’s Mudra Necklace! This is an easy introduction to including beads in your knitting, and it’s a nice small accessory for yourself or to make as a gift. Kits include the pattern, yarn, beads, clasps, and a focal disk. Find the kits here.
Additionally, I’ve been adding the Berroco Drop Ship projects to the online shop.
The intersection between “fine art” and “craft” is an enduring interest, and My Modern Met’s February feature on artist Faith Humphrey Hill was a fascinating introduction to her technique which fuses handknitting with digital illustration. Her Instagram feed is lovely and inspiring.
