Will travel for yarn
Okay--
I know. It's not Mother's Day yet, but I'm going to be in Chicago most of the week, and I checked the weather. I'm pretty confident that the container flowers will be fine.
By the time you read this, I'll be on my way to SeaTac, returning late on Friday. It's time for our annual trade show, and I'll be spending the week scouting the convention center for new merchandise, attending classes, participating in a few meetings, and seeing friends and colleagues I normally just "see" on my screens.
The shop will be open regular hours while I'm gone, and I'll be keeping an eye on email.

…new in the shop
The last two bases we ordered from Gepard arrived yesterday after a delightful week-long stay in Oakland. (So the full itinerary was Denmark--Oakland--Memphis--Spokane--Union Gap--Ellensburg.)
CottonWool 3 is a fingering weight 50% extrafine Merino wool / 50% organic cotton. Use it alone, doubled, or with a carry along like Kid Seta for a fabric that gives you the best of both fibers. (I might start a Friday Tee when I return from Chicago.)
Puno is a bulky weight that is a terrific sub for CaMaRose Snefnug. It's a blown tube yarn construction with an alpaca 68% and 10% Merino wool fill. The net "tube" provides structure, so you get a fabric that is very light. Check out some pattern ideas here.

I'm traveling for yarn on a macro level, but it's that time of year when a yarn-related day trip starts to sound very appealing! If you're visiting Ellensburg, here are some links that you might find useful:

...currently stitching
I decided I wanted a new sweater for Chicago, so I started one last Tuesday night. As of Monday morning, I have hem, sleeve, and neck ribbing left, which I intend to finish while traveling. (Which, side note, how do people fly without a stitching project? It's a mystery to me.)
Here's a pile of fluffy knitting that will be a Hiesu Sweater shortly. I'm using Laine x Novita 4ply held with a strand of Aerial kid silk mohair.
The Golden Hour Shawl and the Ellington Bandana will be my travel knitting, and I'll have a set of interchangeable needles with me for swatching new yarns.
