Welcoming Rosarios 4 to our shelves!

Now that FedEx has finally decided to turn over my packages, I am happy to announce that we have added three excellent new yarns from Rosarios 4, a Portuguese company with a strong family heritage and focus on sustainability.

Real Merino is a washable 100% Merino yarn in solid colors. It is classified as a DK yarn; I think it is also very viable as a sport weight yarn. When you want the softness of Merino, the simplicity of a traditional solid color, and ease of care, it is a great choice.  I have plans to make a shop sample of Cupcake in this yarn as soon as I catch up with existing WIPs.

Belmonte is a versatile wool/cotton blend with a marled presentation. This blend hits the sweet spot for folks who want to moderate the warmth of wool. Because Rosarios 4 has a focus on developing sustainable yarns, the cotton in this blend is organic--which means it is grown without pestcides and using substantially less water. It's a versatile DK weight, and suitable for adults and kids alike.

And last but not least, we have Madragoa, a fingering weight 100% silk. Use it alone, double it, hold it with a carry along--there's lots of potential for a variety of looks. Browse pattern ideas for this yarn at Ravelry here.

Spinzilla, the "monster of a spinning week," has been on hiatus for the last several years, but The National Needlearts Association is bringing it back for 2026! The event dates are October 5-11.

As a spinner, you can use whatever device you please (traditional wheel, e-spinner, drop spindle) and there are event prizes. You can participate as a rogue spinner, but if you'd like a fun team event, Yarn Folk is sponsoring the Twisting in the Wind team! We'll have some in-person spinning sessions, maybe a few intra-team challenges, and take care of helping to calculate and submit yardage.

There are prizes in a range of categories, and proceeds from the event are going to the Handweavers Guild of America in support of their educational programs.
