I love a museum, and during my trip back to Nebraska, we included a stop at the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer. It is a living history museum with a robust collection of historical artifacts, a Railroad Town that replicates a prairie town from the 1890s (including a number of original homes from the area), and which also hosts fine arts exhibits in the main building designed by renowned architect Edward Durell Stone.
I frequently gravitate to textile displays, and one of the objects featured during this visit was the wool bathing suit pictured above.
There is also a rotating feature of "staff favorites," and the objects selected when we were there included a sewing box and notions.
There was also an embroidered buckskin vest on display, likely of Pawnee provenance (although I didn't capture the object label in my photo, and can't be positive).
It's a small museum, but I discover something new every time I visit, and I've been there many times. If you're traveling through Nebraska, it's not far off I-80, and well worth a stop!
1) I fixed the error in the pattern repeat on the right front, so it is back to being finished. And I'm close to being finished with the back! (I forgot to wind another skein of Seis Cabos before coming home on Saturday, so I had to switch projects.) This is Mastiha, from Thea Colman.
2) I started a kid size 2-4 Tin Can Knits Besties Hoodie! I ran out of light to take a pic yesterday (Monday), but there will be more next week anyway, so it's fine. This is the sample for Vintage DK. I'm knitting in the Tin Can Knits app, so even though this pattern has six different gauge options and 27 sizes, I'm only looking at the instructions for the size and gauge I'm actually knitting.
