Signups: A Weekend with Marie Greene & Socktober!

September 30, 2025

Thanks to the hosts of the Have a Ball Fall Crawl and all of the participants who were watching live or caught the replays later. Thankfully my letter carrier is a good sport (and was parked in the alley).

Now it's on to some fun events for October. Last week, we announced the details of our event with Marie Greene of Olive Knits. We would love to spend time with you, and you can find all of the October 10 & 11 details right here

We also decided to host an easy Socktober event--just like Stitch Every Day in May, all you have to commit to is one stitch (on a sock project) every day. I know I have at least one pair, and possibly two close to completion, so I'm planning to participate, too! More details below.

…new in the shop

There's a LOT of yarn on its way to Ellensburg right now--100 lbs from the Berroco warehouse (West Yorkshire Spinners, Novita x Laine, and Lang), plus 70ish lbs from Tributary Yarns for the trunk show we are hosting in conjunction with Marie Greene's visit to Yarn Folk. And then there are also a couple of non-yarn surprises. I guess what I'm saying is look for me under the cardboard???

So let's focus on what's here NOW!

A very nice order of Murky Depths Deep Sock. I look forward to wearing my pair of Andrea Mowry's Mondim socks every time I do sock laundry! In addition to being an excellent sock yarn, Deep Sock is featured in a few of kits I highlighted during the Have a Ball Fall Crawl. The Dark Academia and Light Academia kits feature all-over colorwork, and in the case of Light Academia, some texture and cables. These are grand project sweaters--fingering weight with intricate motifs.

We also have kits for the crocheted Coles River Kerchief I just finished. This is a beginner-friendly pattern from Toni Lipsey, and the elongated asymmetrical triangle shape is easy to style and easy to wear.

And we also have a fun new t-shirt available for purchase on demand. I noticed that a couple of t-shirts I purchased recently were the same brand, and I chose a printing service based on their availability.  We have:

and also:

You can find the knitting version here and the crochet version here! Sizing is XS through 4XL, with nine color options.

…to inspire

Just like Stitch Every Day in May, all you have to do is work at least one stitch a day on any sock project. (Adult, baby, slippers--all fine. Does it go on a foot? Then it is fine.)

Find your tracker here, and turn it in by 11:59pm on November 3rd to be entered to win a $25 gift card to Yarn Folk + a $10 gift card to Hayday Bake & Brew.

I wore the Coles River Kerchief during my Have a Ball Fall Crawl presentation, and I love it! A bit less than two skeins of Murky Depth Deep Sock. Now I'm back to the sleeves of my Lakes V-Neck in Berroco Wizard, the Sophie Hood in Basta, and a secret project in advance of our events with Marie Greene..
