New Year, New Projects--What's On Your Needles & Hooks?
January 06, 2026
(love this needlepoint pillow at my Airbnb!)
Sending you greetings from Spokane, the site of this year's one-person Yarn Folk Planning Retreat! I am so glad I started this tradition; after the holidays, it has been a cherished chance to pause, reflect, and look forward. I had a bit of a rocky start (bus cancellation resulted in a drive to Spokane), but I'm settled in with a good plan for maximizing this quiet time.
I hope to see some of you on tonight's Can't Died In a Cornfield Zoom*, but while I'm away, I'd love to stay connected and see what you are working on! If you have a pic I can share in Yarn Folk's social media stories, you can reply to this email and attach it, or if your Instagram account is set to public, tag @yarnfolk in a post, and I'll share it from there! I may not be at home base, but you are in my heart 💖
*If you signed up prior to today, you should have received the link for the Can't Died In a Cornfield Stitchalong Zoom (tonight, 7-8p) yesterday. If you can't locate it in your email, I will be adding it to the Stitchalong Info page late this afternoon, and the p@ssword is Nebraska1
…mark your calendars

"Can't Died in the Cornfield" Stitchalong
January 2026
Choose your own challenge for this January stitchalong. Inspired by a colloquialism that was a pillar of my childhood in Nebraska. Zoom kick off January 6 at 7pm. More info here, and the sign up form is here. PS, there's no set finish date for this challenge!
Hours Updates
We're continuing with Sunday hours, 12p-4p
January 5-8 modified hours: Zay will be in the shop 12-3:30p. Please save your hard questions for my return on Friday, January 9 🙃

How about those Seahawks?? We have a few kits for our Throwback Hat, and I put in an order yesterday for a couple of additional options. Might as well be ready to take it all the way! The free pattern is included with yarn purchase; if you have yarn (you need less than a full skein of white, royal blue, and kelly green), you can download the pattern on Ravelry, from the kit page, or here.
Designs from Danish company Onling have just been added to Ravelry in-store sales! There are so many gorgeous designs, with opportunities for creative yarn substitution!
Prospect Pullover: front and back joined, about to start the sleeves (before finishing the body). In Ultra Wool.
Elf-burgh: Making the wee-est size with a ball of Edition 3. Still on DPNs, will switch to a 12" circular when I have enough stitches.
Kraken Cowl: Morris has perfect colors for a Seattle Kraken version, so I'm doing that. I added in ladderback jacquard stitches every five stitches because there are quite a number of long floats. About a quarter of the way through the chart.
