Last call: Register for the Olive Knits KAL Info Zoom!

Here at Yarn Folk, we ae gearing up for LOTS OF THINGS, but one of them is the 9th Annual Olive Knits KAL!

If you're at all curious about ASTRO POP, we're inviting you to join us for a Zoom with Marie on Wednesday, June 4th at 1pm. (That's tomorrow!)

Register here.

Whether you're a first-time KAL participant or you are a frequent flyer, we'd love for you to join in. Marie is a pro at this, and really makes it a fun experience. We will probably host an in-person session or two in July (in our new space!) but until then, you're in good hands with Marie to guide you!

…new in the shop

So, there was the debacle with the links to the Astro Pop Kits last week--let's try this again!

We had some stickers made to share with customers during Saturday's Pride Parade, and also printed a front-adhesive version for shop windows, and have shared those with other shop owners. We bought enough extra that we'll have them for sale in the shop for a good while... You can find them here.

…to inspire

You were hoping for a new swatching tip, weren't you??! 😂😂😂

Due to the fact that we do usually wash knit and crochet items, the recommendation is to block (wash) and dry your swatch in the way you plan to treat the finished project. Sometimes, you'll be laying the garment flat to dry, and waiting for a swatch to dry can be very boring and forever-taking when you're eager to get started.

Something I realized quite by accident a few months ago is that it takes no time if you happen to have an air purifier!. Swatches are lightweight enough that I usually anchor them in some way. It varies according to the weight of the yarn, but the fingering weight yarn pictured was dry in about a minute.

The garter ridge visible in the photo was the demarcation between two needle sizes. Happy swatching!

...currently stitching

Fingers crossed that I finish my store sample of Astro Pop before Wednesday's Zoom with Marie! Two more vertical repeats of the lace detail, the lower ribbing, and the (short sleeves)! 🤞🤞🤞
