Join us for a Weekend with Marie Greene!

Join us for a Weekend with Marie Greene!

I just checked my email, and Marie first reached out about a visit to Yarn Folk last August. As in, August 2024. At that point, dates were tentative, and it was just a hey, wanna do something next year sort of query. To put things into perspective, at that point, I had absolutely no idea that Yarn Folk would be moving to a new location, much less that we would be buying an historic building and doing it all in less than a year!

That said, it is thrilling to be able to welcome one of our favorite designers (and honestly, humans) to our new space, and we have worked out an event schedule to make the most of this special visit!

Here is the weekend schedule, and we've created packages for Friday only, Saturday only, or both days bundled together at a discount.

  • Friday, October 10th, we'll be hosting an Intimate Evening with Marie. The Friday Only package is $49, and includes a 5-7:30pm casual party with Marie, an informal talk, a swag bag, early preview of the Tributary Yarns trunk show we are hosting in conjunction with Marie's visit, and a coupon for 10% off any purchase during the event.
  • Saturday, October 11th, Marie will be at Yarn Folk all day. The Saturday Only package is also $49, and includes her 10:30am talk, a private 15 minute shopping appointment with Marie, and a coupon for 10% off any purchase during the day. Come with a project in mind, and Marie will help you with yarn and color suggestions!
  • Also on Saturday, Marie will be signing books (including any of her previous titles) from 11am-Noon. There is no charge for this portion of the day  (and no requirement that you have purchased your books from Yarn Folk).
  • The Make It a Weekend package is $79, and includes absolutely everything! Your 10% off coupon is valid both days.

(10% off coupons are good storewide, except for consignment and trunk show items.)

You can register for this event here, and space is limited! If you are opting for the Saturday Only or Make It a Weekend options, be sure to select the specific time for your appointment. (Time slots appear as options for either package, but can only be booked once--after that, they drop off the availability list.)

If you're not familiar with Marie's design work, you can check out her patterns at Olive Knits or on Ravelry

…new in the shop

Ever see a yarn that you can't stop thinking about? Same! Meet Basta. I can't quite explain why I like this so much. Growing up with the Muppets? 🤷🏻 It is super, super soft, and I've started a Sophie Hood in it. (Because I'm definitely not working on any samples that have deadlines 😝)

…to inspire

As promised, here are some of the crochet projects that I have my eyes on for fall stitiching!

The Basic Sunburst Pillow, by Mallory Krall. I think the hardest part might be deciding how many colors to use!

The Agnes Sweater Vest, by Bethany Lynne. I think there is at least a chance I might be able to wear a vest or slipover without freezing to death here, and I do love a granny square design!

Another garment that caught my eye is the Lowrider Jumper, by Iron Lamb. DK weight--solid? Tonal? Variegated?

Never met a waffled fabric I didn't like! This is the Weekend Waffle Shawl by Brianna Mason.

I have a couple of spider plant babies that need to be potted up, and I think they want to be hangning plants when I finally manage to travel 50' to get a couple of pots to put them in! These are the Boho Plant Hangers 074 from Simply Made By Erin.

The Octodot Cowl by Veronica Ory features a very cool stitch pattern.

Salena Baca's Hexagon Market Bag makes me want to combine either Berroco Vellina or Lana Grossa Mosaico for the mesh, and then use Modern Cotton DK for the trim and the handles!

Tune into the Have a Ball Fall Crawl on Sunday to see if I managed to get this done in time!
