We've got two events happening this week, and we'd love to see you at both of them!
Local Yarn Store Day started as a way to celebrate the spirit of independent yarn shops, and throughout the country, shops love this opportunity to say thank you to our customers with free pattern codes*, giveaways**, limited edition merchandise, and more****!
In addition to the specific LYS Day offers, we've got new yarns in the shop, and our fingers crossed for a new line on its way here from Denmark. I can't guarantee that last one (it has to go through customs), but if I have it by Friday, you'll see it on Saturday!
* Casapinka, Knot Bad Britt, Double the Stitches, SEK Handmade, Blue Sky Fibers, Berroco
**LYS Day collectible enamel pin free with $30 purchase for first 30 customers, enter to win a full bag of Cashmello yarn from Berroco, drawing for a $50 Yarn Folk gift card

…new in the shop
Last week we received two yarns from Urth, and one from Berroco, and Zay stocked them on Sunday.
Trill, from Urth Yarn, is a 80% superwash Merino wool / 20% linen fingering weight yarn. The addition of the linen, plus the light yarn weight, makes it a great option for transitional and summer garments. We have eight colors, and it's a really nice palette.
Also from Urth, Etesia is a DK cotton (77%) and linen (23%) blend with great yardage. It features a bit of texture that gives a stockinette fabric a bit of extra visual interest.
And Berroco Remix Wool DK is in the house. It's a tweedy blend with significant percentages of wool and cotton, and it's 100% recycled. Fantastic for all kinds of projects.

THURSDAY'S Girls Night Out is a project of the Ellensburg Downtown Association, and it's an event that has grown! So much so that this year, the official hours are 3 - 9PM--that gives participants more time to combine shopping with visits to participating food and drink establishments. Pick up your event bingo card and promo map at the EDA office, 109 E Third.
Did you know that Yarn Folk originally opened its doors to the public during Spring Girls Night Out in 2013? There was some cajoling involved--it was 2-3 weeks earlier than our original target date! Here's what we're doing this year:
Bonus Social Stitching, 6 - 9PM, upstairs in our Stitching Loft
Buy One, Get One 60% off on select yarns
E-Spinner Demo
So whether you're looking for some community fun, deals on a selected group of yarns, or are curious about how electric spinning wheels work, stop by on Thursday!

The Arcuate Vest in Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton Sport involved a significant yarn chicken victory. I used about 50 yards more than the pattern projected, but I also added 4.5" for a high hip length for my long torso. I had pulled one additional skein, but I was able to return it to stock when I had approximately five whole feet of yarn remaining.
