Gifts for YOU!

Gifts-for-YOU Yarn Folk

Just a few ideas if you have loved ones who are still shopping:

We have a variety of interchangeable needle sets on hand, along with crochet hook sets, and the Limited Edition Prym Ergonomic Circular Set from Arne & Carlos.

If you don't have a Lumos Light, meet your new best friend, whether you're stitching in low light, or working with dark yarn!

We have Doodle Decks from Pacific Knit Co back in stock.

Hand-dyed silk micro skein earrings from Happy Habit will make you smile and broadcast your love of all things yarnie.

The XL Zippered Pouches from See Design hold a generously-sized project.

And of course, we have gift cards available--they are sold digitally online, and as a physical card in the store, but either version can be used either in person or online! If the loved one buying for you is reluctant to give an "impersonal gift card," remind them that they are also giving the experience of planning and selecting materials for a new project--one of our favorite parts of stitching!

Weather Delay

In the ten years we've been open, we've had *very* few unscheduled closures. That said, our hours are sometimes affected, and here's how we try to keep you posted:

  • We update our hours in Google. Sometimes they don't approve the update as fast as we'd like, but we do make every effort to post any changes there.
  • We make social media posts on Facebook and Instagram, and share those posts to our stories. If you happen to see a post, please like or share it--it really helps to get the word out when there is more interaction.
  • If we have access to the shop phone, we update the outgoing message.
  • Please remember that we travel from Upper County, and sometimes conditions there are very different.

…new in the shop

If you need a yarn that is warm, soft, and super bulky for making a truly last minute gift, we received a shipment of Amano Yarns Mamacha last week. Mamacha is a 70% baby alpaca / 30% wool blend. I used two skeins to make a simple brioche cowl (free pattern here), and it's so squishy. For more ideas, see our Super Bulky Super Fast Ravelry bundle. Malabrigo Rasta, Plymouth Yarns Encore Mega and Encore Mega Colorspun, and Kinua Yarns The Flamé are other super bulky options.

The Elf & Gnome swap this past Saturday was lots of fun, and an event we'll put on the calendar again next year. I'll post a reel with closeup shots of all of the little friends on Instagram, but here's the class photo of the entire cohort just prior to being packaged up into the mystery bags!

I'm still holding onto the (pipe) dream of finishing the Hreindyr sweater from Lopi before Christmas. It's technically still possible, but we'll see what happens over the next few days. We have a family tradition of walking to see Santa on Christmas Eve in Roslyn--I'd like to have a festive new sweater to wear... 🎅🏻🎄❄️
