Coming Friday: 16 hours of daylight! What will you stitch?? 🌞

Here in Ellensburg, we don't always get consistent summer weather until after the summer solstice, but this week it looks like we'll get toasty temps AND sixteen hours of daylight on Friday! Are you keeping up with your daily stitching habit from #KnitOrCrochetEveryDayInMay?

Here are some ideas for summer-friendly projects:

Grab & Go: These are projects that aren't too big, and don't require maximum concentration (at least not all the time).

Summer Lee's Weekend Shorty Socks -- grab a skein of tonal sock yarn and a handful of minis, and pick a size from toddler to adult XL

Tin Can Knits Basic Beanie or Ysolda Teague's Musselburgh are the ultimate camping knits, or try a top-down crochet beanie like Mary Onorati's Stella Hat for decide-as-you-go sizing.

Small scarves like An Italian Summer Scarf, the Small Fry Scarf or the Sophie Scarf are all knit end-to-end, with easy patterning. The same is true for crochet options Just Breathe, and the Silent Mode Scarf; while the Granny Stripes Scarf is crocheted the long way (love it in three different colors of Edition 3)

Also? If you have a project using super dark colors, PULL IT OUT AND WORK ON IT THIS WEEK. Thank me later 😎

…new in the shop

Last Saturday's brioche class had a great time learning with Anita Osterhaug, and while she was here, she was gracious enough to autograph copies of Nordic Hands. This is a gorgeous title, an exploration of Scandinavian culture with a wealth of inspiring projects and captivating photography throughout. Grab your author-signed copy here!

We also have fresh stock of some of our favorite accessories: stitch markers from Allstitch Studios, Purl Strings (including new Chunky Packs for your more substantial knits), and the always-delightful Stitch Stoppers

Psst, did you catch our Instagram post introducing Malabrigo Cloud spinning fiber? Interested to know what you think--it's superwash Merino, and I've seen reports of it opening up beautifully when steamed a bit before spinning.

…to inspire

I see SO many fabulous crocheted bags come through the shop, and I have never made one--what's up with that??

I made an exception last year and purchased a pattern that is only on Etsy, but I still haven't made it. Is this the summer? (Here's a link to the Hannah Tote.) (If anyone wants to let me live vicariously, those Encore colors are Pecan Pie 1235, Purple Dusk 702, Light Greenfrost Mix 678, and Fawn Mix 1415!!)

I also think that Berroco Remix Chunky would make an amazing bag, and this is a search I did for patterns that would work.... Tulip Square Bag? Tulip Square Tote? Field Trip Tote? Lola Market Bag?

Spill the Tea: so close! A little more upper back, and some trim! This is the Pine/Mustard/Azalea colorway from the Como kits.
