Bags & Pearls Yarn Folk

(Pictured: Cocoknits Triangle Markers)

A quick update: the masking policy at Yarn Folk continues to require masking for unvaccinated folks, while fully vaccinated customers may choose to mask or not. If local or state guidelines change to recommend more extensive wearing of masks, that could change on short notice.

I am fully vaccinated, but I have decided that I will *personally* return to wearing a mask when others are present in the shop. While the covid vaccines continue to offer excellent protection against serious illness and hospitalization, the science journalism I have read or listened to in the past week has reported that breakthrough infections have been on the rise as the delta variant spreads in the US.  In order to protect my ability to keep the shop open, I am choosing to add back a layer of protection for the time being. Thanks for your understanding.

Current open hours are Monday - Friday, 7am-3:30pm, and Saturdays, 9am-3pm. In-store shopping: masks are optional if and only if you are fully vaccinated

...to anticipate

This week, we've added project bags and freshwater purl stitch markers (plus functional jewelry!) to the shop.

From Purlsmith, we have the Circling Pendant in either sterling silver or non-tarnish copper, on 24" silver-plated curb chain or gunmetal ball chain, respectively. The simple design is elegant on its own, but is also designed to hold one or more freshwater pearl stitch markers. They come in tins of six, and we have three pretty colorways. In the shop only, we also have single markers available.

New project bags are Indigobird Designs Kiko Drawstring Bags, stiched by Yarn Folk. All fabrics are 100% cotton, and the bags are fully lined in white (to make it easier to see the contents). The drawstring closure is snag-free, and handles make the bags easy to grab and go. (Bag patterns from Indigobird Designs are here.)yarnfolk dividing line (2).png

Why a photograph of the real Sandringham, the country house of the British Royals? Because all of the best photographs of the KNITTED version are licensed by Getty Images, and their use starts at about $200! So here is an image of the estate itself license through Creative Commmons, with a few links to check out the fantastic knitted creation by 92 year old Margaret Seaman, of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. She began the project in 2019, and completed much of it during pandemic lockdown.
