A small contest: help us grow!

It was great to get away for some very focused thinking and planning, and also a joy to be back to set many of those plans in motion!

One overarching goal I have for the coming year is to expand our reach--more eyes on what we're up to means more opportunities to share fiber goodness with all of you.

And who better to ask for a little boost than you, dear reader? We're not looking for bot engagement--we want to connect with real people who love yarn!

We are close to 2,000 followers or subscribers on our email list, Instagram, and Facebook pages. We'd also like to increase subscribers on our YouTube channel, and we have a new account on Bluesky, where we are enjoying the ability to curate what we see a little more precisely than on other platforms.

Sooooo, we are asking you to share with folks you know who might be interested in Yarn Folk. Email me at yarnfolkgoals@gmail.com (set up specifically for this project!) and let me know who you shared with. I will draw two names -- one supporter (that's you!) and one new follower -- each time we hit a milestone (2000 for email, Facebook, and Instagram; 500 for YouTube; 250 for Bluesky, and each will get a discount code for $10 off a future purchase. That's at least 10 winners, and maybe more if we blow past those goals. Share your LYS, win prizes!

Here are the places to find us (and you can just copy and paste this section to share):

…new in the shop

We just received some amazing new tools and notions from Twice Sheared Sheep -- an i-cord tool, adjustable (AND SPARKLY) sock blockers, the Poma-llama pom/tassel/lucet cord maker, cast on markers that accommodate a 500+ stitch cast on (oof!), and a moveable marker to help you remember to DO THE THING.

You can find these new items and more from Twice Sheared Sheep here!

Also, we are adding Karbonz circular knitting needles to our January clearance. Entire remaining stock is 30% off, all sales final.

…to inspire

With a significant portion of the Bermy Basic 18 in Tukuwool DK and Creative Make It Tweed completed, I decided to make a video to correct my lackluster promotion of this January makealong offering. (December was a heck of a MONTH, in a heck of a YEAR, you know?) This knit basic--think elevated sweatshirt--is offered along with the Granny Go Round Jumper. These two patterns share a couple of key elements: easy enough for new garment makers, enough potential for modification to keep more experienced stitchers engaged, multiple yarn options, and a nice range of sizes.  If you missed it when I posted the video on Saturday (and your email client has stripped out the embedded video above), you can find it on YouTube here.

...currently stitching

Here's the yoke of my Bermy Basic 18 on a Purl String for a preview of the upper part of the sweater. This was before the last 3 (I think) increases, which are now complete, and I'm knitting just a bit more before separating for the sleeves.

Which reminds me to grab my 12" size 6 needles--sleeves first, as ever.
