Welcome to Yarn Folk's Virtual 11th Anniversary Celebration!

It's time for another anniversary celebration, and this one is our 11th! Not only that, but it's the shop's "golden birthday"--we opened on April 11, 2013. Our event is occurring couple of days later, but we are still claiming the theme!

We had so much fun with custom colorways and limited edition merchandise last year that we're back with more.

First up is "Ellensburg Blue" on an absolutely stunning wool and silk base from Kim Dyes Yarn. I've thought about our blue agates as a jumping off point for a color for years, but I'm glad I waited, because Kim made it perfect. The steely tonal blue gives us the natural striation of the agate, a few darker speckles suggest the raw state of the stone, and the sheen of the silk reminds us of the smoothness of the polished gems.

I also designed a cabled hat for this beautiful yarn. The pattern name, Elevenses, is a call back to this anniversary year, but we also have a running joke at home about our cats always thinking it's time for extra snacks, aka elevenses. The design is built around a pair of six-stitch rope cables. Each has eleven crosses, and the spacing between crosses increases for one, and decreases for the other. The maximum spacing is at--you guessed right--eleven rows. The pattern is free through the end of the weekend, or with yarn purchase.  Find it here.

Another of our custom colors is Uneek 11 from Urth Yarns. I asked for a modified spectrum with eleven colors--a simple but specific request 😇 Uneek 11 is dyed on Uneek Fingering, and the fiber blend is 75% superwash Merino wool with 25% nylon. Unlike the sock kits, these skeins  are not divided in two balls, in part because I think they will make such fun hats. Here's the start of a Musselburgh that shows the initial color sequence!

In addition to custom colorways and an anniversary design, we also have a custom Mini Minder from Lemon Wood. I adopted one from the very first batch I stocked, and I use it all the time. Our custom version is Old Heat, inspired by the brickwork on the old steam plant smokestack; how'd we do? 😁

Last, we have a special selection of Madelinetosh Tosh DK one of a kind skeins  at a great promotional price--$26.50, which is $5 off the regular price. Same 100% superwash Merino, same quality hand-dyeing, same work environment that  emphasizes nurturing employees and paying them fairly. We're able to offer these at a sizeable discount because they were color tests or skeins that didn't quite match existing dye formulas. There are fun brights, some speckles, and quite a few rich and subtle neutrals. Once they are gone, they're gone!

Finally, we're also doing a drawing for a $55  gift card. (It was going to be $50, before I decided it should be a multiple of ELEVEN.) Enter to win by signing up for our email list (or confirming your address) in person, or email ann@yarnfolk.com with the subject line DOOR PRIZE ENTRY. You may enter in person or online, but not both. You get an extra entry for making a purchase either in person or online.

Goodie bags and Girl Scout cookies return this year, too. I love figuring out what to put in the gift bags (free with in person or online purchases while supplies last) and it's delightful to stroll up to a cookie booth and ask for one of every variety. What's an anniversary party without treats??

Whether you're able to join us in person, or here virtually, thank you for being part of Yarn Folk's anniversary celebrations! Fiber friends ARE the best friends!
