One of the ways we are celebrating Yarn Folk's Tenth Anniversary is with a series of custom colorways.
From Murky Depths Dyeworks, we have one of the most beautiful greens I've ever seen (and it's exactly what I had hoped for). The mood board I sent to Debbie may have been a little "extra," but she interpreted it in the rich and layered way she approaches all of her colors, and it's just right. Searching for a name, I put "Yarn Folk Emerald" into an anagram generator, and one of the options was "Normally Freaked." Which I generally am 🤷🏻😅It's available on the Deep Sock Base, along with fresh stock of a complementary palette.
Another of our custom colors is "Blood, Sweat, & Tears" from Apple Fiber Studios. I asked Apple Fiber for this one because in addition to the hand-dyed yarn line, Andrea and Andrew also own Apple Yarns in Bellingham, and I know they know the joys and challenges of running a small business in the fiber arts! This color is dyed on Gala, the same great sock yarn base as the Pretty Pretty Yarn Club, so even though it's not a PPYC colorway, I've added it to that product page, since all the yarn info is the same.
And last, we have Charlotte, on three bases from Madelinetosh: Tosh Merino Light, Tosh DK, and new to us for spring, Wool + Cotton. You may or may not know that the yarn doll that appears in lots of our imagery is one I made as a child, and her name is Charlotte. The color reflects her honeyed caramel color, with a light speckle in colors to suggest her beaded face. The dye formula is similar on Tosh Merino Light and Tosh DK (both 100% superwash merino), and lighter on Wool + Cotton, which is 50% superwash merino and 50% cotton.
Another big part of our anniversary celebration is TEN (one for every year of Yarn Folk) fantastic door prizes. We are so appreciative of the support from our vendors: Apple Fiber Studios, Berroco, Blue Sky Fibers, Bryson Distributing, Dream in Color, The Fibre Co., Plymouth Yarn, Skacel, and Universal Yarn.
Each door prize consists of a Field Bag, sewn by me from the Grainline Studios sewing pattern in partnership with Fringe Supply Co., a Yarn Folk Mug, and a $10 gift certificate for Yarn Folk, PLUS one of the following:
