Olive Knits 4 Day KAL 2023 -- Lemon Spritz 🍋

Are you ready to add a new sweater to your wardrobe this summer? Whether this is your first or your seventh, we hope you'll join us for the 7th Annual Olive Knits 4 Day KAL! Yarn Folk is a Featured Vendor again this year, PLUS we're inviting you to a special Zoom meeting with Marie on Friday, June 9th, from 1-2pm PDT.

Sign up for the June 9th Zoom with Marie & Yarn Folk here!

Lemon Spritz is a comfy raglan tee with easy-to-memorize lace details in the lower body and charming "lemon leaf" ties on the short sleeves. (Our time on Sleeve Island will be brief this year--perhaps just long enough to sip a refreshing glass of lemonade!)

  • Pattern pre-order (with swatching and sizing details) begins Friday, May 26th at Olive Knits and on Ravelry. The pattern will be offered at a discounted price until June 15th.
  • Full pattern release is June 30. Knitalong begins and continues with enthusiastic support and encouragement through July!

What we're knitting our (first??) sample in:

Wooldreamers Saona, 240 yds / 50 g, 50% Merina Entrefina and Manchega / 50% Andalusian Cotton

This is a NEW yarn from our friends at Wooldreamers. What's to love? It's soft and spongy, both the Andalusian cotton and the Merino/Manchega wool blend are traceable, and the color palette was developed in collaboration with Ozetta, and the price point is great.

You'll need 3 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6) balls of Saona.

Other possibilities we're excited about:

Malabrigo Susurro, 325 yds / 100 g,  50% mulberry silk / 25% linen / 25% merino wool

Have you tried this special blend? With 50% silk, it's got drape and luster for days. And it's really lovely knit in a lace pattern. Plus gorgeous color, always, from Malabrigo.

You'll need 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5) hanks of Susurro.

Amano Chaski, 383 yds / 100 g, 60% superwash Merino wool / 30% Pima cotton / 10% linen

As I mentioned in the blog post that introduced this yarn a couple of weeks ago, Chaski is a true utility player. This is a fabric that will be both breathable and give you a soft drape. And I chose this selection of breezy summer colors with this KAL in mind 😇

You'll need 2 (3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4) hanks of Chaski.

Another option from Amano is Awa, 328 yds / 100 g, 55% baby alpaca / 26% Merino wool / 19% Pima cotton

While this yarn has only 19% plant fibers, the generous percentage of baby alpaca is giving it the drape we're looking for, and having knit an Outline Tee from it last year, I'm confident about using it for a summer tee. We have several colors with adequate quantities, but if this yarn strikes your fancy, we're happy to set up drop shipping of any of the available colors from Berroco. (Well, except for Aegean Blue 1104, which is out of stock.)

You'll need 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins of Awa.

And to round things out, if you're looking for a 100% non-animal option, check out Scheepjes Stone Washed, 42 yds / 50 g, 78% cotton / 22% acrylic.

Stone Washed is soft with a bit of a halo, and can be machine washed. The dye technique gives the impression of stonewashed denim.

You'll need 6 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10) balls of Stone Washed.
